Aya Nazeeh Elkhouly is an accomplished professional serving as a Community Development Expert and Lecturer, with a significant track record in participating in international projects and workshops. She has collaborated with prestigious institutions such as Cairo University, GIZ, ISOCARP, and NUPI. Currently, she holds the position of Assistant Professor at CHI, along with being a part-time instructor at the American University in Cairo and AASTMT.
In terms of education, Dr. Elkhouly obtained a PhD in Architecture Engineering with a specialization in Urban Planning, focusing on the "Quality of Child Urban Life," in 2020. Additionally, she holds a Master's degree in "Urban Education Development" from 2014, and she completed her Bachelor's degree in Architecture from Cairo University in 2011.
In recognition of her exceptional work, Dr. Elkhouly was honored with the prestigious Golden Cubes Award in 2022 for her outstanding contribution to institutional cooperation in the design of a playground park that involved active participation from children. Her team of children designers also received recognition for their innovative contributions at Cairo Innovates for Children Innovations.
Furthermore, Dr. Elkhouly was selected as one of six international Young Professionals Program (YPP) participants in 2019 for the redevelopment project of the Ming Dong Community in Ningbo, China. The aim of the project was to transform the community into a child-friendly environment.
Over the past decade, Dr. Elkhouly has been deeply committed to advocating for urban community awareness and improving the quality of life in urban areas. Her research focuses on various areas, including urban education, community-based development, cities designed for children, quality of life, sustainable planning, brownfields, creativity, scientific thinking, and participatory community design tools.
